Hi. My name is Elizabeth and I am a woman. I make work here because I need to express myself and don’t have time or space to paint or make films these days. I am the mother of two children, having started that gig at the age of 40. I also run a small business, manage a home, and hang out with my dog, my husband, and friends in that order. I attempt to write every day, I struggle with depression and anxiety, and I export loads of creativity at times.
Like many people, I do many things, but feel that I am none of these things in particular. Or, I am all of them on a bad day.
My friends and family and greater groupings of humanity matter to me. I care about their well being. I care about mine. I want to make things better. I would like to explain how consciousness works. But how?
I have said to myself on a number of occasions, “as long as I have a pen in my hand, I will never go crazy.” The internet is a text, images, and coding medium — and it does just fine.
As I look over the work here: expressions and unconventional turns of phrase, unicode & math characters and an obsessive overuse of em dashes, I’d like to invite you to view this piece in its entirety as an avant garde meta maker blog, with a known sense of media as part of the message. I’ve always loved collage and conceptual art, and the digital sphere is where I’m practicing. Today anyway.
I hope you find something helpful to you here. Comfort and joy to you on your journey.
If you’d like to write, you may email elizabeth{at}mommess.com, or follow my Instagram. Tips & Gift subscriptions support my work, and I’m deeply grateful for all of you who share the love that way too.
