Hi. My name is Elizabeth and I am a woman. I make work here because I need to express myself and don’t always find time or space to paint or make films. I am the mother of two children, having started that gig at the age of 40. I also run a small business, manage a home, and hang out with my dog, my husband, and friends in that order.
I attempt to write every day, sometimes struggle with depression and anxiety, and export loads of creativity at times.
Like many people, I do many things, but feel that I am none of these things in particular. Or, I am all of them on a bad day.
My friends and family and greater groupings of humanity matter to me. I care about their well being. I care about mine. I want to make things better.
I would also like to explain how consciousness works. And creativity. But how?
I have said to myself on a number of occasions, “as long as I have a pen in my hand, I will never go crazy.”
The internet is a text, images, and coding medium — run by binary code, chips, and fingers on keys
and it does just fine.
As I look over the work here: longform with expressions and unconventional turns of phrase; Unicode & math characters; and doubling down on overuse of em dashes, I’m hope you view this as an avant blog: and a body of work.
I’ve always loved collage and conceptual art, and the digital sphere is where I’m practicing. Today anyway.
Note for Summer 2026: I intend to branch out a little here and also feature some other contemporary makers’ works. Like magazine features, perhaps, introducing you to projects I participate in where other artists, musicians, builders, weavers and makers (and movers and shakers) are the creative leads.
I hope you find something helpful to you here. Comfort and joy to you on your journey.
If you’d like to write, you may email elizabeth{at}emmpress.com, or follow my Instagram. Tips & Gift subscriptions support my work, and I’m deeply grateful for all of you who support this bright light on an internet ocean of increasingly AI-generated stuff.
This is all about being human. Even if online.
