Remember when the Democratic party broke with proper convention (and conventions) to nominate Kamala Harris?
As a decidedly left-leaning citizen I absolutely wanted Kamala to beat Trump in the last election. But here I am still staring at an old guy in office who wears a diaper and starts wars so he can play deal maker while enriching a few.
Not good.
I don’t always like looking back, but perhaps a postmortem of what went wrong is in order? You know, so we can move forward with solid, genuinely citizen-centered footing that is demonstrably egalitarian.
You know, doing We The People-kind of moves that are effective?
Perhaps the big thing that went awry in August 2024, was that quick and speedy non-nomination process that brought Chuck-Taylor-and pearl wearing powerhouse to the fore was the DNC, which was supposedly strongest for standing on genuine democratic processes.
And you know, the process fell down hard against “win at all cost” modern GOP-pers, even though they were loaded with something less appealing than moral high ground…
I get why: something needed to be done pronto to get someone smart and young into office, but man, when you f with your strongest footing, and you need conventions to work, bad stuff happens.
So, with integrity of process in mind, who knows the lineup for the next democratic convention? And who is putting their efforts there?
Ever consider making the thing more genuinely public? I mean practically public with BIG TENTS in every state capitol chiming in by live feeds… With impeccable processes to show the American people Democrats are truly listening to everyone?
I’ve pretty much stood on the fact that Democratic parties are actually more fun, because the music is better, the folks who show up more diverse, and the crowd more tolerant, ready to get along and joyful.
Ultimately, fun parties are more, well, more fun.
Who knows who knows who is making decisions around that? I have a few ideas.
